Tongyeong – 7-12 May 2024

Tongyeong 5 nights

Tongyeong (통영시) is a coastal city in South Gyeongsang (경상남도) province. It consists of a small peninsula facing the south sea and many islands.

DAY 1:

• Took 1 hr 30mins from Busan Seobu (West) Intercity Bus Terminal (부산서부시외버스터미널) -> Tongyeon Central Bus Terminal (통영종합버스터미널) (by bus) 13,900 won/pax
• Arrived around 12:30pm and took a public bus to Docras Tourist Hostel (도르가관광호스텔) to check-in
• Tongyeong Jungang Market (통영중앙전통시장)
• Dinner @ Daepunggwan (대풍관) (sea squirt bibimbap & seafood tofu soup)

DAY 2:

• Dongpirang Mural Village (동피랑 벽화마을)
• Lunch @ Myeongga Chungmu Gimbap (명가충무김밥). Plain rice wrapped in seaweed, served with spicy radish and squid salad, unlike ordinary gimbap. MUST TRY!
• Sebyeonggwan Hall (통영 세병관)
• Yi Sun-sin Park (이순신 공원)
• Cheongma Literature Museum (청마문학관)
• Dinner @ Hansan Seom Sikdang (한산섬식당) (file fish soup) MUST TRY!

DAY 3:

• Hansan Battle Plaza (한산대첩광장)
• Tongyeong Cultural Square (Ganggu-an) (통영문화마당(강구안))
• Quick lunch @ 배말칼국수김밥통영루지점 (Kimbap) before trekking
• From Tongyeong Cable Car (통영케이블카) –> Tongyeong Cablecar Skywalk (통영케이블카 상부역사) It'd take about 15 to 20 minutes by cable car but we decided to walk as the weather was good and the temperature was mild. It was quite a tough climb for 2 hours and a further 1hr 20mins to the summit of Mireuksan (미륵산). It was worth the effort for such nice scenery.
• After descending, we walked to Tongyeong Seafood Ttukbaegi (통영해물뚝배기) (seafood pot) for dinner.
• Tongyeong Deagyo Bridge (통영대교)
• Tongyeong Undersea Tunnel (통영해저터널)

DAY 4:

• Gangguan Bridge (강구안 보도교)
• Dipirang: Nammangsan Sculpture Park (디피랑(남망산조각공원))
• Lunch @ 명촌식당 (fried fish restaurant). Not so good: too overcooked but cheap.
• Walked from Tongyeong Concert Hall (통영국제음악당) –> dinner @ Nijiten (니지텐) (Japanese tempura donburi)
• Chungmugyo Bridge (충무교)

DAY 5:

• Lunch @ Seopirang Tteokbokki (서피랑떡복기집) (small old shop)
• Seopirang 99 Stairs (서피랑99계단)
• Seopirang Park (서피랑)
• Seoho Market (서호시장)
• Dinner @ 동피랑쭈굴 (seafood restaurant). Set dinner 19,000/pax. Grilled mackerel, oyster seaweed, oyster pancake, stew octupus & oysters, octopus salad, seaweed rice, cold veg salad. Good price & good food. MUST TRY!

DAY 6:

• Checked out and took a bus back to Tongyeon Central Bus Terminal
• Quick kimbap lunch near the bus terminal @ 한일김밥 죽림점 (Not good)
