Daejeon – 22-26 May 2024

Daejeon 4 nights

DAY 1:

• Daegu (대구) –> Daejeon Station (대전역) (by train) 10,200 won/pax. Took 1hr 56mins.
• When arrived at the Daejeon Station seeing a very long queue outside a bakery cafe: Sungsimdang Bakery (성심당 대전역점)
  • THE MOST FAMOUS BAKERY in Daejeon (대전광역시) with many branches. Queues with both local and foreign customers are common sights. Inexpensive and very delicious. Freshly baked and sold out quickly. MUST TRY!
• Took a bus to Happy Tower (해피타워) for checking in
• Dinner @ Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu (등촌샤브칼국수 용전점). Mushroom hotpot with beef & udon + fried rice. Good food. 14k won/pax.

DAY 2:

• Lunch @ Ohssi Kalguksu (오씨칼국수 도룡점) Fresh clams noodle soup. Highly recommended!
• Passed by Sungsimdang Bakery (성심당 DCC점) seeing not so crowded, we popped in to enjoy coffee and bread.
• Expo Bridge (엑스포다리)
• EXPO Hanbit Tower (한빛탑) (beer festival and many food stalls)
• Dinner @ food court of Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science (신세계백화점 대전신세계아트앤사이언스). Grilled pork, tofu soup + rice 12k won for sharing.

DAY 3:

• Daejeon Jungang Market (대전중앙시장)
  • BEST and our favourite market! Cheap and good. Customers are mainly locals. Not surprising that we had quite a few meals there.
• Lunch @ Gaecheon Restaurant (개천식당) (dumpling soup with bean thread noodles and fried dumplings) near Daejeon Jungang Market
• Hanbat Arboretum (한밭수목원)
• EXPO Hanbit Tower (live band Guckkasten & drone show) 7-10:30pm
• Dinner @ around EXPO Hanbit Tower (Beer Festival 2024). Pizza 18k won + sweet and sour chicken 8k won + 2 mugs of beer 4k won each.

DAY 4:

• Lunch @ 서울마님죽 in Daejeon Jungang Market Red beans congee + black sasame congee 12k won + Korean tempura 3800 won
• Snacked @ Daejeon Jungang Market
• Daejeon Skyroad (대전스카이로드) (music performance & night market, food stalls 7-10pm)
• Daejeon Walking Street (으능정이 문화의 거리)
• Watched performance @ Mokcheok Park (목척공원) below Mogcheoggyo (목척교) bridge while munching snacks from Daejeon Jungang Market
• Dinner @ Smuper Chicken (스모프 치킨호프) Small portion + 1 bottle of beer 21k won. ONE OF THE BEST SOYA SAUCE FRIED CHICKEN!
